It has been a great honour to have a design included in Aimée from La Bien Aimee's new book N e o n s & N e u t r a l s (published by Laine Publishing). My contribution is Geweef - a wrap/shawl pattern inspired by woven fabrics, geometric designs and bright pops of colour.
Geweef is a rectangular shawl/wrap that is worked on the bias, giving the piece an asymmetrical appearance; and using a range of bases and colour variation. In my mother tongue, 'geweef' translates as woven, and the word saamgeweef or woven together has particular meaning for me in this design. Not only is N e o n s & N e u t r a l s a collaborative weaving together of ideas and people, but the original inspiration and design elements weave together a myriad of eclectic cultural references and indigenous forms of knowledge and making. Geweef hopes to translate these vibrant patterns and textures to your needles in a playful and textured manner, with the possibility of creative colour-mixing and colour combinations.
You can find more information (and the array of wonderful patterns included) here:
Patterns are not available for individual release at this point.
Originally, Geweef was designed using different bases for extra textural squish - I have chosen to keep this aspect in these kit sets.
Included below are the original sample colours in MLM yarn (book sample 2); if you require the exact LBA sample yarn for Sample 1 - please visit the La Bien Aimee online shop, they will have bundles available in the original colours: https://www.labienaimee.com/collections/neons-neutrals-by-aimee-gille
For my local knitters (and for who those imports are a total nightmare), I have fashioned a sample 1 look-alike by selecting like-minded, approximate colours from my colour charts over the years...please note that the effect will not be exactly as that of the original. I will also endeavour to add kit bundles inspired by my lovely testers over the next few weeks, so do keep an eye out for those.
If sets are out of stock, please use the Notify Me button - I can track the stock requests from my side, plus as soon as I load additional stock to the shop you will be notified via email!
