I've been bursting to share this beautiful design with you! This is the latest offering from Selena and Abbye from Wool & Pine, and features Miss La Motte Linum (merino-linen singles). The pattern is described as follows by this design duo:
'Raw, chic elements breathe simplicity in an organic, yet edgy way in our latest design, Fantail. The unique lace motif marries sleek modernity and old world charm in a lovely silhouette, knit in gorgeous linen-wool blend fingering weight yarn by Miss La Motte. Fantail is perfect for those special blended skeins in your stash with a touch of linen, cotton, bamboo or silk.
Fantail features a straightforward topdown in the round construction, short sleeves finished with an afterthought icord and a touch of whimsy, an easily customizable semi-cropped body and crisp lines of twisted stitches bordered by symmetrical yarnovers which extend well into the body. Watch as the oxidized texture in this gorgeous yarn shifts and flashes through the delicate yarnovers, fibers with a touch of sheen in a delicate color sparkles in Fantail.'
Indeed, the merino-lined singles offer the perfect blend of delicate texture and stunning drape to compliment this striking design, which reminds me of my favourite Art Deco design elements. The initial brief I received from Selena and Abbye contained beautiful crisp pastel tones combined with sleek design lines ... and, as I am a perpetual fan of delicate colours; I have tried to extend this vision to the Fantail coloour palette.
For best results (and to make the design lines shine), I would recommend a semi-solid or delicately speckled yarn, which you can browse over here: https://misslamotteyarns.com/categories/merino-linen-singles. Also, make sure to watch the handy custom fit video Wool & Pine has put together - it helps to make for a super successful knitting experience!
