Pomona

Pomona was the goddess of fruitful abundance in Roman mythology - beautifully portrayed in Sandro Botticelli's Birth of Venus as she approaches with a billowing cloak in order to clothe Venus. Botticelli painted an abundance of delicate and detailed flowers (tucked away in most areas of the painting) and fruit on Pomona's dress and the cloak - something which moved me tremendously when standing in front of this painting.

Pomona attempts to reflect some of that verdant abundance of Spring - a burst of summer greens and a hint of fruit and flowers.
