I love the winter magnolias - to me they are the harbingers of the light returning to our hemisphere. Their blooms are so transient - blink and you might miss their flowering - but they are always so stately, quietly flamboyant and utterly delightful in fragrance (if you can find blooms low enough to shove your face into...and oh that slightly lemony fresh magnolia fragrance!). Winter Magnolias combines some of these mauve-ish tones with others in a restrained variegation....with some speckle pops of course!
