A confession - something I do whilst travelling is to go and visit the nearest garden in whichever city I find myself, and lose myself for a few hours. I also imagine which gardens 'could' be mine - and I happened to find the perfect garden just past our vaporetto stop in Venice. Against the backdrop of the palazzo stonework, green shrubs and palms, an abundance of roses!
I later found out that I had walked past another - one of Venice's secret gardens - the private garden in the Guidecca. For me this was perfect - having travelled all the way from Africa, only to return not having witnessed this legendary garden - it means that the idea of it is still magical and otherworldly and full of secrets.
Venetian Rose is a very pale and delicate colourway that combines stone, natural white, parchment and pale herb greens with some exciting speckles.
