Retba is a loud, layered reddish pink - it has notes of teal, rust and rose, with delicate speckles.
I originally developed this range of new colours for another project involving a local yarn shop during the lockdown period. Whilst I do not believe in escaping/sidestepping the many necessary debates currently taking place world-wide, I did spend some time discovering a range of wonderful landscapes online when we were not allowed out of the house here in South Africa during lock-down. Retba was inspired by uncanny or unusual places in the world that involve glorious shades of colour. Retba is a salt lake in Senegal that is also known as the 'milkshake lake', and support a host of local communities. You can float on this lake in summer time - its salt concentration is then higher than the Dead Sea.
